Radiation Protection and Detoxification
I felt a burden to write about the present danger of radiation poisoning. I know many of you would not be aware of this danger and I myself wouldn't have been a year or so ago. This is why I feel it is important for me to write a little about where radiation comes from, what it does to your body, and how to protect and prepare for it. I hope you find this interesting and if anything I hope it provokes you to think about it and talk about it with friends.
In an article from naturalnews.com, Ethan A. Huff states that radiation from Fukushima is already being traced in cow’s milk here in America. It has been recorded that there have been traces radiation 300 times stronger than is recommended by the EPA. Not only is it possible that the radiation from Fukushima is heading our way, but even so most of us already contain more radiation than is "safe." And honestly, no level of radiation is safe. Have you ever had an X-ray, CT scan, or a PET scan? These all contain a small amount of radiation that is considered “Safe.” Although there is a risk, many times it is necessary to take these tests to avoid other more serious health problems. But wouldn’t it be smart to detox from this harmful substance to avoid further damage to your body’s cells?

What does radiation poisoning do to your body?
Radiation produces free radicals in your body causing your cells to age faster. It also causes mutations and distortion to occur in the cells, which produces a greater risk for cancer. It can change genes that you pass onto your children. This is why it is extra important to insure you are radiation free.
There are some simple ways to rid your body of radiation. One simple way is by taking what they call a radiation bath. Using salt and baking soda, you can pull radiation out of the body. This can be repeated multiple times if you feel you need it, or can be used as a tool for detox maintenance. A way to prevent harm during or previous to radiation exposure, is by taking iodine tablets. (A good natural source of iodine is found in kelp.) The thyroid is the most vulnerable organ from radiation poisoning. This is because when radiation is released, it releases radioactive iodine. The thyroid may try to take up the iodine and use it, this can cause thyroid cancer. To prevent this, you can take Iodine pills. The iodine (from the pill) is taken up by the thyroid and no longer allows the thyroid room for more iodine (iodine from radiation). Though iodine tablets may help the thyroid, blue-green algae such as chlorella and spirulina can help the whole body eliminate radiation and protect against it. Not only will these increase your body’s number of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants (which prevents free radicals from staying in the body) but they can also give you more energy. You can find tablets at your health food store or online. You can also find this in powder form. It is beneficial and safe for your children too. Sneak it in a smoothie! It is an easy way to protect and rid your body of radiation poisoning.
Radiation Detoxification Bath:
- 1lb of salt (epsom)
- 1lb of baking soda (Make sure to buy aluminum free.)
I hope this information is helpful to you all.

I am not a doctor, just a student of health who is striving to encouraging wellness. I cannot guarantee that any of these methods can cure radiation poisoning. Do some research or talk to your chiropractor or alternative physician.

A little bit of my week
I had my last midterm (till fall) this past Thursday. I was cramming, trying to remember all of the information. I think I did well, we'll see on Monday. I will have both of my anatomy and physiology classes completed in two weeks from today. I can't wait! The class has been really helpful though. It has given me a much needed better understanding of the body. This way I am no longer drowning in my other classes trying to understand medical terms that I have never heard before. There is so much to understand and remember. The human body is quite amazing!
Anyways, the weekend is here and I'm happy. :-)
Here are some pictures of my week:

Here are some pictures of my week:
I made homemade split pea soup with a small drizzle of olive oil on top. It was amazing. Along with pan de queso, which are brazilian rolls with cheese inside. They're so yummy! Gluten free too.
(In case anyone was wondering, the white pills are supplements.)
Pre-baked. I forgot to get a picture of them finished.
I love my cute salt and pepper shakers and olive oil pitcher that my mom gave me. :-)
My studying consists of lots of black tea and notes all over the floor.
I'm off to bed.
Goodnight!

The First Post
The first post of a blog always seems to be painful. Here I go.
First off, I named this blog Maria loves abbott for two reasons:
1. I do! (love him)
2. Because most of my inspiration, creative drive, photographs, and influence comes from him. This being that I spend most of my time with him. We also share so many of the same loves, such as: drinking tea, listening to music, cooking, being lazy hippies, and reading. I love Abbott more than anything and I figured it was appropriate that I should name a blog that reflects my life, after the person who I spend most of it with.
I love you baby! Can't wait to marry you on June 25th!
(The photo below was taken by the amazing Photographer: Cheryl Dawn!)
I will leave you with a photo from my perfect rainy day.
